Ceili's Modern Irish Pub

Hey Everyone,

So lately I have been craving some sports bar food and after considering a few of the options in Richmond, we decided to go to Ceili's! I've been here before but this was Jess' first time so I was eager to see what she thought of it.

We went on a Sunday night around 6pm, so it wasn't very busy inside. As with most bars, you seat yourself so we got a nice table for ourselves with a great view of their large projection TV, as well as several other TVs all around the pub. This is definitely a nice place to catch a few games as there are many TVs all around the pub, so no matter where you are sitting, you're bound to have a view of a TV with the game you want to watch. Upon grabbing a seat at our table, a server greeted us instantly and provided us with menus.

For drinks, I had my new favourite beer, Okanagan Spring 1516 Bavarian Lager $6.75.

For starters, we chose the Tater Tot Poutine $10.95.

We love poutine and a poutine using tater tots instead of fries? We must try it! Now the food did take a while to arrive, and considering how dead it was at the restaurant, we were surprised by the time it took. The poutine itself was pretty good though, as it had bacon mixed in, which was just perfect for the poutine. We liked how it was served in a small skillet on top of a wooden board. The green onions or chives on the side were useless to us, as we did not add them into the poutine at all. Personally I don't like vegetables in my poutine, so having that on the side seemed to be only for plating purposes. The tater tots were crispy and worked very well in the poutine, with the overall flavour of the poutine working really well together. This is definitely worth trying if you have not had a tater tot poutine yet!

For mains, I had the Belfast Burger $16.95 with Classic Caesar $2.00.

Sorry for the blurry pictures, the lighting in the restaurant was quite dark! The burger was pretty good though. The patty was moist, and the combination of the double smoked bacon, sauteed mushrooms, melted aged Canadian white cheddar, crispy onions, garlic aioli, lettuce, tomato, and roasted pepper relish work very well together in this burger. This was also a very filling burger, so the salad was not necessary, but I felt like eating a bit healthier that day, so I didn't want fries. I really enjoyed this burger and would definitely order it again!

Jess had the Double Smoked Bacon Grilled Cheese $14.95 with the Soup of the Day $2.00

I had a taste of this grilled cheese, and this was very good! This was definitely an enjoyable grilled cheese sandwich, and I would order this myself next time, but $14.95 for a grilled cheese sandwich did not seem worth it for me. The soup of the day was not bad, but it was an item that you have to pay more on top for. The sandwich was good, but just not worth paying $14.95.

The service here was pretty good. We were greeted when we walked up to the table we picked, and service was prompt and friendly throughout the whole dining experience. The only thing was that the food was quite slow to arrive, which we found surprising as mentioned earlier.

Overall this restaurant was a great dining experience. Their menu had a lot of great options for us to choose from. Our picks turned out to be pretty good, and we would definitely come back to try more of their menu to see if they have other good options as well. The beer here was a lot pricier than LA Grill but the pub atmosphere here is much better when looking for a place to chill with friends. We would definitely return with some friends and would recommend this restaurant.
